COMPLETED SUMMER 2022
7 in 7 Ultra Endurance Run in Support of The Rainbow Society of Alberta
In June 2022, Matt Devine embarked on a life-changing journey born from a profound struggle with depression. Searching for purpose, Matt found inspiration in his deep compassion for disadvantaged children and decided to channel his pain into action.
With the unwavering support of his wife, Nicole, the 7in7 Ultra was born: seven marathons in seven consecutive days across the rugged Canadian Rockies.
In just 3.5 months, Matt and Nicole turned their vision into reality. Partnering with The Rainbow Society of Alberta (now known as Alberta Dreams), Nicole meticulously planned the logistics while Matt focused on training. Starting in Jasper, Alberta, and finishing in Canmore, Matt ran through every extreme weather condition imaginable—relentless rain, snow, wind, soaring elevations, and scorching heat.
Each day brought new challenges, as Matt’s body and mind dealt with swollen knees, shin splints, lost toenails, and the crushing mental toll of such an intense feat. Yet, he refused to falter, driven by a mission to make a difference for children in need.
By the final day, Matt crossed the finish line utterly exhausted but triumphant. Not only had he completed the grueling 7-day challenge, but he and Nicole had exceeded their goal, raising an incredible $60,000 for children’s charities.
The 7in7 Ultra wasn’t just a test of endurance; it was a testament to the power of determination and community. What started as two ordinary people brainstorming on a sofa turned into a movement, proving that even the smallest whisper can grow into a roar of hope and transformation.
